Sending large amounts of data to a friend or co-worker via email, FTP or other means can be quite difficult. Large files take a long time to be transferred and if the process is interrupted you must start all over again. Binfer gives you the possibility of exchanging large chunks of data without relying on web-based uploads, remote servers or other services.

The software itself is free, but the data transfer service is like a cellular phone service, which means that you have to pay a monthly fee, according to how much data you wish to transfer. The good news is that a free plan is available, which allows you to transfer a modest amount of data each month. Binfer is available for Windows, Mac and Linux and for Android-powered mobile devices.

Binfer comes with a tabbed user interface, which displays received and sent files, options for sending data, a contactsd, list, transfers log and various settings. If you wish to send a file to another person, all you have to do is specify an email address, write a message if you want to, drop a file over the interface and click a button. You will have to leave your computer and the application running until the other person downloads your file, since Binfer doesn't upload the data to any servers.

As previously suggested, the software allows you to send files of any size. The recipient will receive an email with a link to a download page. There are two ways of downloading received data. You can either download the files directly from a web browser or through the desktop application. This means that people can receive your files even if they don't have Binfer on their computer. Of course, if you don't want anyone to be able to download the files you send, you can tick an option to prevent users from downloading the files from a web browser.

Pros

You can send huge files directly to other users. Received data can be downloaded without the need to install Binfer.

Cons

There are no obvious issues to mention. Any amount of data can be sent over the Internet, directly to other users, thanks to Binfer's powerful functionality.
